This was the 'riskiest' purchases I've made online in that this item had only ONE other reviewer. However, the table's general appearance (bold/solid) and the one reviewer's seeming satisfaction lead me to get it. I was looking for an old farmhouse style table, but most which had the style either were poorly rated and looked frail or cost way more than I was willing to pay.Mind you, $300 ain't cheap, but in general terms and for a heavily used and essential part of the home, I was willing to pay up to that level for a good table. This table is certainly solid. Legs are solid wood. I think the whole thing is solid 'real' wood except for the top surface. The top surface is perfectly smooth (no grain) which leads me to believe it's the one 'selected veneers' mentioned in the product description.
